Vancouver, BC, August 6, 2008 - Sonora Gold & Silver Corp. (the "Company") (TSX Venture: SOC) announces that effective August 1, 2008, Jens Biertumpel has resigned as President, Chief Executive Officer and a director of the Company and Dennis Petke has resigned from his position as Chief Financial Officer of the Company.

Mr. Biertumpel will be succeeded by Mr. Ken Churchill, a current director of the Company who has been providing management consulting services to the Company over the past six months. Mr. Biertumpel will continue to provide consulting services to the Company in relation to the development of its resource interests.

Mr. Churchill has been an entrepreneur in different business ventures over the past 30 years and has been instrumental in identifying new opportunities for the Company. The board is pleased to announce his appointment as President and Chief Executive Officer of the Company effective August 1, 2008.

Mr. Petke will be succeeded, effective August 1, 2008, by June Ballant who has acted as Chief Financial Officer for a number of Canadian public companies. The board welcomes her and looks forward to working with her.

The board wishes both former members of the Company's management well in their new ventures.
